Slack Setup
Messaging integrations are optional. Your assistant works without one — you can chat with it directly from the control panel console.
Moderate — Minimal risk in your own workspace
Slack requires two tokens (a bot token and an app-level token), which makes setup slightly more involved. But it's low risk within your own workspace.
Steps
- Go to your assistant's setup wizard (Step 2: Messaging), choose Slack, and click the Create Slack App link — this opens Slack with a pre-filled app configuration
- Review the settings and click Create
- Click Install to Workspace and authorize the app
- Go to OAuth & Permissions in the sidebar — copy the Bot User OAuth Token (starts with
xoxb-) - Go to Basic Information → scroll to App-Level Tokens → click Generate Token
- Name it anything, add the
connections:writepermission, and generate - Copy the app-level token (starts with
xapp-) and paste both tokens into the setup wizard
Testing it
Open Slack and find the bot in your Apps sidebar. Send it a direct message to test it. It should respond within a few seconds.
Tip: You need two tokens — the bot token (xoxb-) and the app-level token (xapp-). Missing either one will prevent the bot from working.
